Trekking and climbing a mountain is one of the things I have in my bucket list. With no nanny/ helper and a 4-year old at home, this needs to be planned accordingly. I cannot be gone for more than a day.

I was so thrilled when I get an invite to climb Mt Daraitan. It’s only a day climb and I will be traveling with Trail Adventours, who are known for organizing fun climbs.

And so, one early Sunday, I left the boys soundly sleeping at home and went to Rizal for the adventure. Mt. Daraitan, located in Rizal near the border of Quezon province. The mountain features forest trails, caves, and rolling grasslands and is also home to one of the country’s cleanest, free-flowing rivers, the Tinipak River, which is surrounded by large marble rocks.

I will also be putting the Capra to a test. Merrell Capra, inspired by the mountain goat, the nature’s ultimate climber . The colorful Capra is constructed in such as way to help hikers over various terrains.

After more than 2 hours of walking, we finally reached the summit!  The view was breath taking. It has a magnificent view of the Sierra Madre mountain range and the province of Rizal.

We started our descent and trek for about another hour to our next stop –  at the beautiful Tinapak River! The river has majestic white rocks and cliffs. Perfect for a swim  or a dip to relax the tired muscles after the hike.

The day was about to end so we had to head back and thankful for meeting new friends in a great outdoor experience.  I’m looking forward to conquering the next summit.
