We are planning to visit Korea this March. Daddy Jinoe will be joining the Seoul International Marathon and Gab and I, together with my mom will go with him. We have been to several out of the country trips as a family before but this is our first time to apply for visa for the whole family.
Every Filipino traveler must secure a visa first before coming to Korea whether for business or leisure purposes. Applying for a Korean Visa is quick and easy. All you have to do is prepare all the complete requirements and head to the Embassy. It took us a little over 10 minutes to finish everything from the time we get inside the embassy.
Korean Visa Requirements
1. Download and fill up the Korean Visa Application Form. The second page of the form includes guidelines on how to fill up the fields.
2. Prepare other documents to attach with the application form.
The standard requirements are:
one 2×2 or passport size colored photo
original and photocopy of Philippine passport
original and photocopy of old passport with Korea/Australi/ New Zealand/ Japan/ USA, Canada Visa if applicable
photocopy of Korea/Australi/ New Zealand/ Japan/ USA, Canada Visa if applicable
Additional supporting documents are:
For Employees:
Original Certificate of Employment from the company
Original Personal Bank Certificate
Photocopy of the latest Income Tax Return
For Businessman or Entrepreneurs:
Photocopy of Business Registration Form from SEC or DTI
Photocopy of Mayor’s Permit
Original Personal Bank Certificate
Photocopy of the latest Income Tax Return
For Housewife:
Photocopy of the latest Income Tax Return of Husband
Original Personal Bank Certificate of Husband
Photocopy of NSO Certified Marriage Contract
For Children traveling with parents:
Photocopy of NSO Certified Birth Certificate
If personally invited by Korean, the Invitation Letter & Copy of the Passport of the Korean who provided the invite should also be attached with the application form.
Complete visa requirements (based on titles – student, athletes, etc) can be found here.
TIPS:
Note on whether original or photocopies of the documents are needed. Only submit photocopies of your ITR, business permit, employment contract, or any other important personal document.
When traveling with the family, group the requirements together per person for fast and easy checking at the embassy. Each family member should have all the standard and additional documents together with each passport – Visa Application Form on top, photocopy of passport & visas issued from other countries, then supporting documents. Arrange in such a way that the documents of the one sponsoring or financing the trip comes first, followed by the spouse and then the documents for the child.
When you plan to travel with a yaya, caretaker or nanny, call the Korean Embassy to check the requirements needed. (I will update this post when I get feedback from Korean Embassy)
Korean Visa Application Schedule
Korean Visa application is from 9-11am, Monday to Friday. There is no need to set an appointment.
There is no payment for travelers staying in Korea for less than 60 days and Php 1800 for those who will stay for 60 to 90 days.
TIP:
Not all members of the family are required for an appearance at the consul window. In our case, only hubby submitted the requirements but we all went to the embassy just in case there will be a need for further information on the family members who will be traveling.
Korean Visa Releasing Schedule
Korean Visa releasing is from 2-4pm, Monday to Friday. Processing takes 5 working days. Bring the claim slip with the control number issued during the visa application.
TIP:
Only traveler’s passport will be returned during the release. Make sure to submit documents as indicated – original or photocopies. All submitted documents, except for the passport, will be left in the embassy.
