The first Hands On Manila Servathon happened in 2006. It is conducted yearly and participated by partner corporations and their volunteers. This year’s Servathon was scheduled last October 12, 2013 but postponed due to Typhoon Santi. It would have been a gathering of more than 1,000 volunteers from over 20 partner corporations to do service projects like classroom, library, science laboratory, school garden makeover and mural painting simultaneously in Manila, Pasay, Taguig and Batangas.
The 1200 food packs to be served for the culminating program in PICC was then decided to be given out to the a shelter and the displaced families, now living in evacuation centers due to fire and flood. There may be no Servathon that day but the sherpas were able to turn the day into a meaningful one.
We are excited and looking forward to the rescheduled Servathon 2013 on November 9.
