Family Goals: Embracing the Imperfections of Family Life is a book written by Michelle S. Alingay, a registered guidance counselor, parenting, relationship and family specialist.
While it would be great to have a perfect family, reality is, we cannot have it. This book however, tells us that it’s possible for us to continually improve relations with the members of our family and have a fun family life.
The book discusses family life dynamics, an honest take about marriage life, a guide to achieving family well-being and special topics related to parenting. I love the chapter talking about breaking past your breakout point, “We need to constantly seek and have ‘modes of well-being’ to help us become a better spouse, parent, family member and lover.” I’m sure most, if not all, moms felt maxed out at one point as we fulfill our roles and will surely relate to this.
As our family means the world to us, we have to understand and embrace our far-from perfect family and find ways to maintain a smother and better relationship. Thankful for this book for the practical and wise lessons!
