Fun Learning & Building at Engineering for Kids

Gab loves vehicles. When I told him that we are attending a class that will teach him how to make a rocket, he was excited. He remembered that about a year ago, he and daddy made a paper rocket together.

We were early at the venue that’s why Gab and Teacher Daniel were at ease chatting with each other even before the class started. He was reading and spelling the the different parts of the rocket ship.

The class is about making “Stomp Rockets”. It started with the kids getting familiar with the rocket parts. They also molded the different parts using clay and assemble one. The next part is for them to make their own rockets using pre-cut papers, some tape and some crayons for them to design, color or draw on it.

The most exciting part of the class is actually making their rockets fly using a stomp rocket launcher. All three boys in the class took turns and had a fun launching their stomp rockets.

It was a happy day for this home-schooled toddler to do a science activity with other kids (and a new found friend – Rio and Mommy Nadia!). I was happy to have signed up for the free trial class at Engineering for Kids and was thankful that even when Gab is just 3, we were welcomed to join.

Engineering for Kids brings Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education to kids ages 4 to 12 in an interesting way.  Their goal is to help children develop solid problem solving skills by encouraging them to discover how things work – making them learn math and science concepts in a different and fun ways.

Engineering for Kids offer three levels of curriculum based on age range with programs on Aerospace/ Civil/Electrical/Checmical/ Mechanical/ Environmental/ Marine/ Industrial Engineering, Electronic Game Design and the one thing that we love to let Gab learn someday – Robotics. How we wish we learned more about robotics in our Engineering course!

Junior Engineers (ages 4-6)
Apprentice Engineers (ages 7-11)
Master Engineers (ages 12-14)

The class that we joined is under the Junior Aerospace Engineering. This is a good activity to join for home-schooled kids!

They currently offer weekday and weekend classes in Makati. You can choose either from a 6-session class that costs Php 6,000 or the 4-session class that costs Php 4,500. The enrollment kit includes the Php 700 membership fee. Classes are held in Forbeswood Parklane,  Rizal Drive in BGC and one in Salcedo.
