Hakab Na is an activity where moms will all breastfeed their babies at the same time. This is a simultaneous activity, in coordination with the Big Latch On – an international activity where moms will simultaneously latch on their babies in other countries. In 2013, there were 14, 536 moms in 845 locations in 28 countries participated in the event. The breastfeeding pinays will once again join in an attempt to break the 2013 record of simultaneous breastfeeding. In the Philippines, there will be events in Manila, Cebu, Davao, Bacolod and Iloilo.
For the Manila event, aside from the simultaneous latching, there will be an activity to get to know each other, talks on extended breastfeeding (breastfeeding babies who are older than 6 months). Register here.
Hakab Na 2014 will be on August 2, 2014 (Saturday), 9:00 am. Here are the different locations:
Manila – Philippine Army Officers’ Clubhouse, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City Cebu – Ayala Center Cebu Active Zone Davao – Stockbridge International School (Formerly Tumble Tots Philippines) Bacolod – Sanctuario de la Salle, USLS, Bacolod City Iloilo – Iloilo Provincial Capitol
Breastfeeding is a public health issue. Although many say breastfeeding comes naturally as you give birth, it may not be easy for others. To successfully breastfeed, the mother needs a strong, well-informed support system from the hospital, home, community to the workplace.
Coming together is a beginning. A large group of mothers feeding together creates an extraordinary sight. It is the most obvious way to show support to each other: sitting side by side feeding our children. This event will help mothers become confident when they breastfeed in public and hopefully will call for the public to have a more open and healthy-minded attitude towards breastfeeding.
